CL Music & Audio Podcast 10: Photographer Adam Elmakias

adam elmakias

If you read magazines like Alt Press and Substream, go to Warped Tour, or follow chart-topping bands like A Day To Remember, Pierce The Veil, or All Time Low, you’ve probably seen a whole lot of Adam Elmakias’ work. In just a few years, he’s carved out a niche for himself as the go-to photographer for the biggest bands in this generation of pop-punk and alternative rock, traveling all over the world embedded with the bands and documenting their life on the road. Not a bad life, right??

Making your living from creating images like this (with A Day To Remember) definitely doesn’t suck

I’ve been a fan of Adam’s work for a long time, so I was stoked to talk shop with him on this episode. We covered all the usual bases like how he got his start, how you can (maybe) follow in his footsteps, and what it’s like to be the road 225 days a year. But most importantly, we talked a lot about the real secret to Adam’s success: it’s not (just) that he is a great photographer, it’s the relationships he’s slowly but surely built with bands and industry people over the years. If you’re interested in being a music photographer then definitely don’t sleep on this one.
