Getting Creative With Recipes Helped An Ex-Pastry Chef Get Healthy

During the live broadcast of Jonathan Bailor’s CreativeLive class, Eat More, Exercise Less, Lose Weight, he was joined by chef Carrie Brown, who created some truly delish-looking recipes live and on-air. Carrie says that, before finding Jonathan’s program, she felt tired and unhealthy all of the time — mostly due to what she was eating. Once she started reading his book, though, she realized that getting healthy was feasible, and it didn’t require deprivation or dieting. So, she got creative, and converted a bunch of her old recipes to make them healthier and more scientifically sound.

“Carrie Brown…learned the science. And because she understand the principals and the underlying framework, she’s able to create [recipes] for herself that is totally SANE. And there’s nothing more I could hope for anyone than to understand the modern science, and then to be like ‘oh, just going to make up some recipes.’ That’s awesome,” Jonathan explained.

As part of our upcoming enhanced rebroadcast of Jonathan’s class — which will feature all-new content — we’re bringing Carrie back to share a few more recipes. Before the broadcast airs, though, we decided it was the perfect time to get to know her a little better. Lucky for us, Carrie thought so too.

Below is a little Q&A with Carrie on overcoming adrenal fatigue, saying goodbye to pastries, and the life-changing effects of implementing Bailor’s SANE lifestyle.

Hi, Carrie! Tell us about you – include that part about the queen.
I’m an (ex-professional) pastry-chef-turned-cookbook-author-freelance-photographer-recipe-developer with a crazy, 4-country, 3-continent-spanning resume which includes such things as a chocolate TV show, a chocolate cookbook, and making pastries for the Queen of England. I trained at the National Bakery School in London and have now turned my pastry chef talents to creating scrumptious SANE food to help the world eat smarter, live better, and put the healthy back into healthy.

How do you go about helping the world eat smarter?
I spend my time developing super healthy recipes that will support people in their quest to burn fat, heal their metabolism, and improve their health. I write a food and lifestyle blog, www.carriebrown.com, where I post some recipes. I also publish cookbooks. People still love a physical book when they are dabbling in the kitchen.

You had some big changes happen recently. Want to tell us about those?
I was diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue back in January and that forced me to become laser-focused on my health. I became hardcore about following Jonathan’s SANE lifestyle and in doing so became healthier than I have ever been in my life. I also switched on my fat-burning hormones, healed my metabolism, and went from a size 8 to a size 2. In 3 months.

Wow. What has that weight loss meant for your life? Your energy levels?
I got to shop for a whole new wardrobe – and discovered that clothes shopping when you are lean is much more fun than when you are chubby. I have a whole new lease on life, but I am still getting used to the new body that stares back at me from the mirror. I never imagined that I would ever be able to look this way again. I feel confident and peaceful. I no longer have to listen to that annoying voice in my head telling me I’m a failure every day. I no longer wince when I catch sight of my reflection. I no longer feel like a fraud. I no longer feel like I am at war with food.

Thats pretty amazing. How’d you first get involved in Jonathan Bailor and his CreativeLive course?
Jonathan and I have being recording a radio show for 2 years around living a SANE lifestyle, and I have been creating SANE recipes for the same amount of time, so when Jonathan asked me if I wanted to participate in the CreativeLive Course it was the perfect next step in helping him get the word out about eating and exercising smarter.
Everyone tells us we have great chemistry, so it was natural to bring it to the next level and go live.

Meeting Jonathan changed my life. He is my third favorite person in the world. He gave me a vehicle to pursue my passions for cooking, and helping and inspiring others, as well as showing me how to get my own health and body on track.

Every day I get emails and comments on my blog about how people’s lives have changed for the better because of my SANE recipes and that just makes my heart want to burst.

Why would someone else want to watch the Jonathan Bailor course?
If they properly apply the principles Jonathan teaches in the course and use my recipes they will meet their health and fat loss goals.

You are going to be teaching a few things on our upcoming broadcast – give us a little preview of what you are going to cover.
I’m going to be whipping up some recipes from my SANE cookbooks so people can see how easy eating healthily can be. I’ll also be sharing my transformation story to inspire others and let them know that they can do it too.

Awesome. But one more thing — do you miss pastries?
Yes I miss making pastries and eating pastries. But I don’t miss how they made me feel afterwards, the effects they had on my health, or how they made my body look.

Word. We’re excited to see those new recipes.
