15 Spooktacular Halloween Craft Ideas for Kids

If your house is anything like mine, Halloween kicks off a holiday season that doesn’t end until sometime next year. October instigates a whirlwind of spooktacular soirees, Halloween decorations, black cats and pumpkin crafts.

I like to think of the cooler weather and waning sunlight as nature’s invitations to come indoors and start DIY Halloween crafts.

This spider web from one of our favorite blog contributors, Megan Anderson, is an interactive craft that can be strung up by the older kids to entertain the younger. And, if you are already in for the night, there is no reason you can’t spin a web of yarn around the family room. Plus the cheap supplies (just white yarn!) means you can recreate this walk-through yarn web again and again.

I wouldn’t pin your hopes on perfect lines, but this painted pumpkin from Better Homes and Gardens is a great option for kids who can’t be trusted to carve their own – just yet.

(If you do have a teen that is ready to wield big tools for pumpkin carving, check out our post on pumpkins and power tools).

The muted candy-corn theme adds an element of sophistication and if you are really set on straight lines you can sketch out the color scheme and challenge your wee one to stay in the lines. Good luck!

When our friends at Craft Gossip shared this adorable image I was reminded that bunting isn’t going out of style anytime soon. It is just too cute!

To make this a kid-friendly craft you can cut the components in advance and assemble them with glue or you can leave the cutting up to them and end up with an imperfectly perfect candy corn pennant bunting.
