Software engineers are the core of many businesses, but hiring them is tough.

You want a high bar, but you don’t want to reject good candidates. You want to challenge them, but you don’t want to burden them with unreasonable requirements. At the end of the day, it’s tough to find a balance that still lands you with the strongest possible team.

The reality is that every company has to interview people, yet very few do it well. Why is that?

Should you be looking for culture fit? What do you need to be aware of when you do so? We’re diving into whether or not culture fit should be a primary concern for your immediate hiring needs, and how to make sure you’re looking for the right social cues and subtle signals that most hiring managers miss.

Knowledge Questions.

Is it always best to hire the smartest or most experienced candidate? We’re discussing the pros and cons of when looking for pure knowledge above all else, is and isn’t a good idea for your business goals, and how your expectations should shift with different levels of experience in candidates.

Specific Algorithms and Coding Questions.

Gayle will be leading a deep dive into the tactical problem solving and algorithm-based questions you need to be asking in your developer interviews.

Mock Interviews.

Finally, we’ll be putting the live studio audience through a series of mock interviews to practice the skills that have been learned in the class.
