The 180 Degree Rule, Explained by LEGO Star Wars

The rules and theories of cinema can seem pretty abstract without concrete examples — though few film schools opt to use LEGO Star Wars characters to do the explaining.

Filmmaker Victor Ha explained the 180 Degree Rule, a crucial spacial element which helps the viewer understand the physical relationship between two onscreen characters, in his CreativeLive course, Fundamentals of DSLR Filmmaking. But rather than using audience members or even cutting examples from famous films which put the rule to use, he cast a few droids.
